D Queen Weekend supply full story

D Queen – Successful Weekend Full Supply Operation at Jeddah Port

The recent congestion at Jeddah Islamic Port, mainly caused by the disruption of vessel schedules following the Strait of Hormuz situation, has created significant challenges for ship supply operations. Many vessels have faced difficulties receiving provisions either alongside the berth or while waiting at the anchorage.

One of the biggest operational challenges is the sudden confirmation of a vessel’s berthing or anchorage position, especially during weekends. Fresh provisions such as vegetables, fruits, meat, poultry, dairy products, and frozen food cannot be purchased and stored several days in advance because maintaining their quality and freshness is essential.

At Savi Shipping Co. – Jeddah Hub, we overcome these challenges through careful planning, close coordination, and rapid execution. Our Operations Department continuously monitors vessel movements and prepares contingency plans for every expected supply operation.

One of our key advantages is that we provide both shipping agency services and ship chandling services. This enables us to receive early updates on vessel schedules and expected berthing windows, allowing our supply team to prepare in advance.

For the vessel D Queen, the Master advised us that the vessel was expected to berth early the following morning. Immediately, our emergency response team was placed on standby. Since this was a large provision order, we could not purchase several fresh items until the vessel’s berthing was officially confirmed.

Our team first prepared all dry stores and non-perishable items overnight. As soon as the vessel’s berth was confirmed the next morning, our procurement and logistics teams immediately sourced the remaining fresh provisions, frozen products, meat, vegetables, fruits, and dairy items.

Within less than six hours, all remaining items had been collected, quality checked, packed, transported, and delivered to the vessel.

By 4:00 PM, our team had successfully completed the supply operation. Only one or two online-requested items could not be delivered because of the vessel’s unexpectedly early berthing schedule. Nevertheless, more than 98% of the requisition was supplied successfully within an extremely limited timeframe.

This operation demonstrates Savi Shipping’s commitment to reliability, rapid response, and professional planning even during weekends, heavy port congestion, and challenging operational conditions.
